Does limiting contact between politicians and the business community protect democracy—or do decision-makers risk making poorer decisions when important perspectives are excluded?
In this seminar from Almedalen Week 2026, EPHI CEO Marie Söderqvist and social commentator Henrik Jönsson, together with politicians, business representatives, and opinion leaders, discuss how the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recommendations affect interactions between EU policymakers and companies in the tobacco, food, and alcohol sectors.
The starting point is EPHI’s report ”Who can talk to Brussels?”, which examines how limited dialogue between policymakers and stakeholders can affect the quality of EU decision-making. The report argues that transparency and regulated channels of communication are essential for well-informed policy decisions.
