Ephi welcomes Philippa Broom to the Ephi Advisory Board!

At the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester in 2023, Philippa Broom guides a diverse group of people: German ex-ministers, politicians from Mongolia, a deputy party leader from Norway and a group of Swedes.

There seems to be no one, either in the British or international liberal conservative movement, she does not know. She is acquainted with the entire British Conservative Party elite and last month invited her good friend to an event in London, Ranil Wickremesinghe who is also the President of Sri Lanka.

Philippa has her roots in South Wales, where she grew up and became involved as a young person in the Young Conservatives and Young Farmers.

After graduation, she worked at the National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), one of the largest child rights organizations in the UK.

After ten years of campaigning on children's issues, she became International Director of the British Conservative Party (equivalent to International Secretary in Sweden). There, Philippa worked extensively on democracy development on all continents, building an outstanding international network of Liberal Conservative parties worldwide.

Philippa seems to make everyone feel welcome and sees it as her job to bring people together and build alliances between them.

She was International Director of the Conservatives for fourteen years, and has since run her own consultancy based in London. But always with one foot in politics, she has remained involved in local politics. She works on sustainability issues and runs a network focused on the environment.

In 2018, Philippa was awarded an OBE, Order of the British Empire, for her public and political service in the Queen's Honours List.

Philippa also has close personal ties to Sweden and visits the country once a month.

We at Ephi are very proud to welcome Philippa to our advisory board!
