Can Sweden shift from medical care to health care—and become a world leader in longevity?
In this seminar from Almedals Week 2026, EPHI discusses how Sweden can shift from primarily treating disease to focusing more on preventing it. Although Sweden spends nearly 700 billion kronor a year on healthcare, we are not getting any healthier, while a large portion of the burden on the healthcare system stems from lifestyle-related diseases.
Based on EPHI’s report ”From health care to health care - how longevity strengthens public health and the economy”The discussion will focus on how preventive care, innovation, and collaboration between the public and private sectors can contribute to better public health, longer healthy lives, and a more sustainable healthcare system.".
